Cooke School & Institute

The Cooke School & Institute in East Harlem is a unique facility providing educational services to children and young adults with developmental disabilities aged 5-21. The institute is characterized by 7 large bay windows projecting from the primary massing of the structure above the building’s entrance. These iconic frames incorporate angular facade elements accented by an elaborate assembly of ACM panels and a playful palette of colored glass. The unique geometry of the bay window frames required each framing group to be pre-assembled on site and subsequently hoisted into place. The large glass sizes in addition to the complex geometry made this project a perfect candidate to use Erie’s ENVIRO|FACADES® stick-built curtain wall system.
